Plans for San Gabriel’s 100th anniversary progress
Historical Museum develops Centennial history display
As San Gabriel approaches its Centennial in 2013, this would be a great time to look back at the City’s history with a visit to the San Gabriel Historical Association Museum 546 W. Broadway (open the first Saturday of each month 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. or by appointment at 626.308.3223). Admission is free. Displays focus on the City’s history including the Mission Play, citrus industry, and schools.
In the past year, residents have made some significant donations to the Museum. Connie Rothstein, a long-time teacher in the school district, has provided the Museum many fine photographs, Mission Play artifacts and resource materials. Marion Brittingham shared oral histories her husband Don recorded, as well as City records that trace changes in street names, etc.
