Welcome to the San Gabriel Fire Department website and thank you for taking the time to visit.  We are a full service fire department and provide fire protection, Urban Search And Rescue (USAR), paramedic ambulance service, paramedic assessment engines, fire prevention inspections, public fire education, emergency preparedness planning, fire investigation, code enforcement, and other services based on community needs.

The Department is part of Mutual Aid Region 1 Area C.  We have “Automatic Aid” agreements with all our surrounding cities.  The Department is also part of the Verdugo Fire Communications System, which provides fire dispatch to eleven (11) area fire departments.  The automatic aid agreements, along with the regional communications system, provide a seamless response to even the most challenging emergencies.

The Department provides service to over 40,000 residents in 4.1 square miles.  We maintain two (2) fire stations, which house, two (2) engines, one (1) paramedic ambulance, one (1) Battalion Chief, and a USAR vehicle.

Our Auxiliary Firefighter program offers graduates of an accredited local fire academy an opportunity to receive valuable on the job training in firefighting and emergency medical services.  If you are interested in becoming an auxiliary firefighter with our department you can start by contacting the fire technology department of your local community college.

The San Gabriel Fire Department prides itself in being a part of the community.  We strive to help provide a high quality of life for our residents, and take a traditional approach to firefighting and emergency medical delivery that emphasizes treating our community customers as extended family.  We work with the other City departments to provide excellent service and problem solving.
